Getting to the Root Cause of Your Injuries and Treating it at its Source.

At Superhealth we know that you want to resolve your sports injury quickly so that you can get back to the activities that you love. For that reason we want to get a very detailed history of your injury so that we can fully understand the forces that went through your body. When we know what happened, how you fell, the speed of the fall, the surface and any torque or twist in the body, then we can look at all the areas of the body that would have taken an unusual stress load. A fast fall on a wet or highly slippery surface such as ice, will lead to a higher force going through the body than when the fall is broken or slowed down in some way.

In my experience getting this detailed story of your injury, we can then look at how the force load travelled through the body. Some areas of the body can accommodate this type of stress. Other parts not so well. We often find that an area of the body has been overlooked because it is distant from the impact point. Like a billiard ball the force will travel through the body often causing another injury some distance from the initial impact.

Generally, Sports injuries respond well to early treatment. Getting a corrective adjustment before inflammation sets in, will speed up recovery. The goal of a sports injury related adjustment is to put a joint back into its ideal position. The length and tension of the muscles that work on that joint will be restored to ideal relationship. In some instances, particularly in overload injuries, the body was more disposed to an injury because the joint was already out of ideal alignment. The length tension of the muscles either side of the joint is faulty. If the contractor muscles have a higher resting tension than the extensor muscles, the contractor muscles are at risk if there is a sudden overload of the extensor muscles.

It is our belief that the joints should first be aligned before rehab takes place. If the length tension and joint position is not restored before rehab, then we are often embedding the imbalance with the rehabilitation exercise.
